About Me.
Emily Madariaga is a Los Angeles–based singer-songwriter and alto vocalist whose work blends indie folk, soft rock, and Latin musical influences. Her sound is intimate, emotionally grounded, and quietly playful.
Growing up in South Los Angeles, Emily found early refuge in music. Singing began as a private practice — a way to regulate emotion and create relief in unstable environments. She would sing wherever she could hear an echo, letting her voice expand into empty spaces. Over time, she realized that music wasn’t just expression, but necessity.
Today, Emily approaches music as both emotional practice and creative discipline. Writing primarily on ukulele and voice, she builds songs that explore contrast — softness and intensity, humor and heaviness, simplicity and depth. Her influences include artists like Feist, Andrew Bird, Devendra Banhart, and Karen O, whose work embraces vulnerability, experimentation, and individuality.
Emily is currently studying music at California State University, Los Angeles, where she continues to refine her songwriting, musicianship, and performance practice. As she expands her sound through new instrumentation and collaboration, her goal remains the same: to create music that feels honest, grounding, and connective.
Her work invites listeners into a shared emotional space — one where discomfort, tenderness, and hope can coexist.
